Just so many things converging at one point.
I guess if I had to pinpoint the biggest reasons:
-Catholic Church’s ongoing abuse
-Evangelicals continued slide towards religious fascism
-the general rejection of gay and trans people
-Religions have a become a place to avoid damnation in the afterlife and how you are going to hell for not living by a certain lifestyle. Not a place to grow as a person on Earth
-Finally, megachurches. Pretty self explanatory.
