This is Reddit so I’ll probably be downvoted but I can understand the (good faith) arguments from both sides of this debate.
On one hand, transgender students 100% deserve the right to play sports like any other cos-gendered student. Sports are a fundamental part of our culture and it’s wrong to any student the chance to participate because of their gender identity. So I’m 100% against bans against transgender athletes.
On the other hand, I do understand the arguments from mostly cisgendered female athletes that they’re at a biological disadvantage to some MTF athletes. One female high school athlete in particular was a star runner and was being approached with different sports scholarship opportunities. Then she started competing against a recently transitioning MTF runner at meets, lost, dropped down on the national rankings, and lost her scholarship opportunities.
I don’t know what the solution is. As I previously stated, I don’t feel like banning trans athletes is the answer. I also feel like it’s disrespectful to tell someone who identifies as a woman, for example, that she isn’t woman enough to compete against other woman. So to sum up, I don’t know.
