A local bar opening in a rural Illinois county led to at least 46 Covid-19 cases and a school closure that affected 650 children, according to the CDC. “This investigation further demonstrates that inconsistent mask use and inadequate physical distancing in an indoor environment can increase transmission risk,” the CDC wrote. The county’s per capita case count doubled as a result of the bar opening, the CDC said.
