OYSTER BAY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — With so many eating places shutting down due to the pandemic, it’s led to a surplus of oysters on Lengthy Island, and now it’s serving to the setting.
Tuesday, environmentalists dropped 50,000 oysters into Oyster Bay Harbor.
The city supervisor says the mollusks will assist naturally clear and filter native waterways.
“We’re right here to provide Mom Nature an early vacation present,” Oyster Bay City Supervisor Joseph Saladino stated. “Oysters are a vital element within the safety of our waters.”
Officers say they may even assist construct again the depleted oyster inhabitants.
