WATERBURY, CT (WFSB) – Waterbury police have recognized the individual accused of beheading the Christopher Columbus statue.

On July four round 5:30 a.m., police have been known as to Metropolis Corridor and located the top of the Christopher Columbus statue was damaged on and off the bottom.

Police obtained surveillance video that confirmed a suspect hitting the top of the statue with an unknown object earlier than leaving. A number of minutes later, the suspect returned, climbed up the statue, and struck the top a number of extra instances till it fell off. Police observed the nostril was lacking from the top.

The suspect ran off and didn’t return.

Detectives later discovered that somebody was making an attempt to promote the damaged off nostril from the statue.

Police decided the suspect to be 22-year-old Brandon Ambrose of Port Chester, NY.

Detectives are actively on the lookout for Ambrose. He shall be charged with felony mischief, desecration of property and larceny within the sixth diploma.
