Shelbyville Fire & Rescue helps remove fawn from well with help of wildlife refuge

Shelbyville firefighters rescued a baby deer Friday from a shallow well.According to the Shelbyville Fire and Rescue Facebook page, the fawn was found by a Shelbyville police officer who then alerted the fire department.The fawn had fallen into the shallow but dry well and Station 2 was able to remove it with the help of Nature’s Haven Wildlife Refuge.According to the fire department, the fawn was then placed in the care of the wildlife refuge to receive some medical attention.”Many times you will hear a firefighter say that when no one knows who else to call, call the fire department. Today we had to reach out and do the same thing and we would like to thank Nature’s Haven Wildlife Refuge for coming out and helping us with an animal rescue,” the fire department said on its Facebook page.Click here to follow the fire department on social media.
