Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon has received the Girl Byng Trophy given for sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct mixed with robust play.
The NHL introduced MacKinnon because the winner of the award Friday. He completed forward of Toronto’s Auston Matthews and St. Louis’ Ryan O’Reilly in voting by the Skilled Hockey Writers Affiliation.
MacKinnon had a career-low 12 penalty minutes this season. No different ahead averaged extra ice time than MacKinnon’s 21:13 common whereas taking fewer penalties.
MacKinnon can also be a finalist for the Hart Trophy as NHL MVP. That award will probably be introduced in the course of the Stanley Cup Remaining.
The Avalanche had been eradicated within the second spherical of the playoffs by no fault of MacKinnon, who led them with 25 factors on 9 objectives and 16 assists. The 25-year-old remains to be the post-season’s main scorer six video games into the convention finals.
